About: This public art project consists of a series of silkscreened murals on Tyvek panels, a collaged landscape of Philadelphia. This was a collaborative project designed and executed by myself and fellow printmaker Katie Van Vliet. The project was on display in the first floor of the retail space windows at the 1100 Ludlow St building located in the East Market neighborhood of Philadelphia from May 2018 to July 2019. The murals are a layered tapestry of the city’s historic legacy of industry, architecture and waterways. The converted factory warehouses, defunct transit lines and infamous city buildings that are featured in the panels represent Philadelphia’s ever-changing history. Smaller details such as brickwork, ornate railings and ceramic tiles create texture and pattern within the design. The project consisted of 15 panels with an image size of approximately 16 feet tall by five feet wide and was created at the BYO PRINT in 8 weeks.
