About: The original goal of these prints was to distill landscape into a color gradient while still rendering characteristics that represented a particular place.  The blended color rolls are a nod to traditional Japanese woodblock prints even though I’m not working in the traditional Japanese relief method.  These are reduction block prints, which means that all of the colors in the image are created from the same carved linoleum block.  Each color is printed and then carved away from the block after printing; this is a method that leaves little room for error and the prints cannot be printed beyond the original edition. The places all have some personal meaning to me but what I wanted to focus on were visually striking yet exaggerated color relationships.
